It’s 1945. You work as a nurse at Hickory Hills Institution for the Insane, or “Old Hicks” as the locals refer to it. Doctor Walter Freeman has been traveling around the United States performing frontal lobotomies on hundreds of patients, many of them being residents in treatment centers like yours. Doctor Freeman visits Old Hicks and performs his procedure on 5 patients in your hospital’s operation theater.
The staff has come to fear one of these patients, Zara Yates, also known as Patient 18 based on her room number. Patient 18 seems to exude an odd psychological effect on those around her. She incites unreasonable feelings in people. Some experience a deep sense of depression. Others feel rage. Some even become violent or engage in self-harm.
After Doctor Freeman’s procedure, somehow, Patient 18 expresses a form of advanced mind control over those who have received lobotomies. With her new crew of mindless residents, Patient 18 attempts to take out her revenge on those whom she feels have imprisoned her.
