Review: Weird Tales of Horror

Weird Tales of Horror
Weird Tales of Horror by David J. West
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am a big fan of short fiction. It takes a certain sensibility to write good short form work. David J. West has that sensibility. Weird Tales of Horror offers a wonderful collection of stories and poetry that range from turn of the century America to the speculative future, even with a bit of Lovecraft spooled in for good measure. It is always a good practice to roll short form collections into your reading diet. This book fills that place with great effect, offering brief, enjoyable escapes from life, visits to other worlds that make you smile and even cringe at moments. West’s prose is excellent. His characters are dimensional and believable. His short stories have depth and are character driven. This book was a great surprise for me and I plan to read more David J. West.
