Review: Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption

Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption
Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption by Laura Hillenbrand
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Best book I have read all year. If you read only one book during your year, perhaps you should make it Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption. Laura Hillenbrand gets out of the way and puts down this amazing true story in its naked greatness. The book follows the life of Olympic hopeful and accomplished miler, Louis Zamperini, as he enlists as an airman and is deployed to the Eastern theater of the second world war. This is a book of a million stories. Hillenbrand spends her time focusing on Zamperini, but introduces many other men and women who paid unimaginable tolls during World War II. Do not miss this book.
