Review: In Cold Blood

In Cold Blood
In Cold Blood by Truman Capote
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Many consider In Cold Blood the original non-fiction novel. Any way you look at it, this book is a classic in the true crime genre. It took Capote 6 years to write the manuscript. In Cold Blood follows the gruesome quadruple homicide committed by Richard “Dick” Hickock and Perry Smith. Capote and his friend, none other than Harper Lee, spent hundreds of hours researching this story by interviewing those close to Hickock and Smith, as well as the murderers themselves. Needless to say, it is not for the lighthearted. But if you are a true crime fan, don’t miss this one. It set the bar high for its genre at an early point in the art.
