Review: Dolores Claiborne

Dolores Claiborne
Dolores Claiborne by Stephen King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

If you read only one Stephen King novel in your life, perhaps you should chose Dolores Claiborne. King, since his first novel, has been a master at writing strong characters. This one stands out as one of his best. Not often does an author convey the full dimension of character. In this novel, Mr. King gets out of the way and gives the floor to Mrs. Claiborne. After finishing this novel, it seems almost too hard to believe that she isn’t real. Murder can never be clean. In real life, it is dirty business, rough around the edges and full of rot and maggots. Dolores Claiborne approaches murder in this way. This novel is truly a triumph from a triumphant author.
