I’ve been working hard on the new album, Zombie Sing-a-long II, and I couldn’t help but let you in on some of the fun. This record will be a concept album that tells the story of a group of trucker/zombie hunters who come to the rescue of a little town called Rattler City, tucked in the womb of Apple Valley, Utah. Think Shawn of the Dead meets Smokey and the Bandit.
This song, Put Another Zombie on the Fire, was the first song I wrote for the Zombie Sing-a-long II. If you have listened to the counterpart album, Zombie Sing-along, you will notice that I’ve taken a drastically different approach to the music on this project. I decided early on to roll in full instrumentation. The first album, though I really like how it turned out, felt a bit naked for my tastes.
Zombie Sing-a-long II will still feature the hard work of some of my best friends: lyrics by Debbie Wheeler, Patrick M. Tracy, Mark Steiner, and yours truly. Some other friends have graciously volunteered to help as well. Nate Peck will read Breaker Z. Rob Griffin’s amazing guitar work will be heard as well as a ripping sax solo from my life-long friend, Rick Nef. What can I say; I love to collaborate.
Should you get a hum-dinger of an idea for a song, send your lyrics to me. Who knows, it might just end up on my next record (which, by the way, might not be zombie related–zombies aren’t all I do for the love of Pete).
I hope you enjoy the single.
Good luck out there. Remember to keep your head down and carry a shotgun when it all hits the fan and the undead claw their way to the surface.
